From April 1st 1966 to March 15th 1970 I served on active duty with the United States Army, during which time I attained the rank of Captain while serving as a small unit commander in the Republic of Vietnam. In June of 1969, I returned from the Republic of Vietnam and was assigned as the Company Commander of the Military Police Company, Fort Polk, LA. I remained on active reserve status until 1991 at which time I was placed in the in-active reserves with the rank of Major. May of 1970 I entered the United States Park Police and served 20 years with the Department. During my tenure with the U.S. Park Police I worked foot patrol, cruiser beats, collision investigations, horse mounted (for eight years, Personnel as an applicant investigator, and then Administrative Supervisor for the New York Field Office), court liaison (which included representing the US Government while prosecuting on the petty offense calendar in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Brooklyn, NY), and the communications/property supervisor as well as a Federal Safety Officer. During the 1975 to 1976 U.S. Congressional Sessions, I coordinated legislation that directly impacted the United States Park Police. I directed several U.S. Congressional liaison meetings between Congressional Members of the House and Senate and the Department of the Interior. The legislation was successfully pasted.
