Mr. Mario O. Mamon has served as Enchanted Kingdom’s (the Philippines’ first and only world-class theme park) Chairman of the Board since its inception 22 years ago and continues to concurrently serve as its Chairman and President since March of 1999. In November 1999, Mr. Mamon was elected to the Board of Directors of the prestigious International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), the US-based, global association of the amusement and attractions industry that includes all major operators such as Disney and Universal for a three-year term until November of 2002. He remains to be the first and only Filipino to have been elected to that position. After serving on the Board of Directors, Mr. Mamon became a member of the association’s membership committee, convention and trade show advisory committee, service awards committee and Asian advisory committee, among others. He has also been a speaker/panel member in a number of theassociation’s Asian Attractions Expos as well as for other conferences and trade shows related to the amusement and attractions industry. Mr. Mamon, together with other area industry executives in Southeast Asia, were responsible for the formation of IAAPA-ASEAN, the federation of national associations in the region, and served as its Chairman in 2009. IAAPA-ASEAN eventually expanded to become IAAPA Asia-Pacific, the formal regional arm of IAAPA based in Hong Kong in 2010. Locally, Mr. Mamon is the founding Chairman & President of the Philippine Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (PhilAAPA), bringing together the major players in the local amusement and attractions industry and aligning it with the global association especially with regard to safety and quality standards.
