The Nature Conservancy


Tara Moberg is a Freshwater Scientist with The Nature Conservancy, a science-based conservation organization working in all 50 states and 35 countries to ‘conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.’ With the Conservancy, she provides scientific review and comment in the FERC Integrated Licensing Processes for Conowingo hydropower dam (500 MW) in Maryland and the proposed Susitna-Watana hydropower dam (600 MW) in Alaska. Related to instream flow policy, her team recently finished the development of basin-wide flow recommendations to protect ecosystem functions in the Susquehanna, Delaware and Upper Ohio River basins through collaboration with dozens of government agencies, NGOs and research institutions. Ms. Moberg also currently sits on the Governing Board for the Low Impact Hydropower Institute. Before joining TNC, Tara spent five years with the Bureau of Reclamation working on the Colorado, Arkansas and South Platte Rivers to assess and mitigate environmental impacts of the operation of several reservoirs and hydropower facilities. She earned her B.S. from Virginia Tech and a M.S. from Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
