Engineer II
Kestrel Power Engineering

Jerry L Thompson received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University in 2009 and 2011, where his study concentrated on electrical machines, power systems, and control theory. He has since been employed with Kestrel Power Engineering, focusing on the testing/analysis of synchronous machines and associated controls (excitation systems, turbine-governors, and protection systems). With the increasing penetration of asynchronous generation (wind, photovoltaic, and battery storage) he has piloted Kestrel’s analysis development for renewable energy systems. He is a member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society and is a registered professional engineer.
