Otto Schmid is the director, product management, at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. (FUSO). He was promoted to his current position after serving eight years in Germany and Japan with Daimler AG in various corporate and engineering functions. Immediately before his move to FUSO in North America, Schmid held the position of NAFTA Project Lead at Customer Services for Daimler Trucks Asia, FUSO’s parent company, working on several projects that involved FUSO and its North American operations. For three years before taking on the duties at Mitsubishi Fuso, Schmid served as Lead Field Auditor at Corporate Audit for Daimler AG at its headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, reviewing and analyzing worldwide research and development projects. He started his career at Mercedes-Benz in the Passenger Cars division in Stuttgart, Germany and was in charge of designing diesel engine software and sensor technology. As a result of the breadth of his background, Schmid has proven expertise in powertrain engineering, project management, and vast experience in the automotive technology. Schmid studied Automobile Technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe, Germany. He finished with an Engineering degree in 2006. Since 2012, he holds the professional designation of Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
