BYD


Andy Swanton is the vice president of sales for BYD, which is the world’s largest manufacturer of electric vehicles. BYD is a vertically integrated original equipment manufacturer and makes all of the critical components for their electric vehicles, including the batteries, high voltage control components, and motors. Swanton is BYD’s vice president of sales for their electric truck business in North America, including delivery, freight, and refuse trucks. BYD currently has trucks in operation or is in the process of building trucks for UPS, Goodwill Industries, the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, San Diego, and Oakland, BNSF Railway, Los Angeles Sanitation, and many other customers. Swanton also manages strategic all-electric transit bus customers such as Los Angeles Metro. He is responsible for sales, marketing, project management, engineering, and manufacturing for all projects that he manages. Swanton has engineering degrees from Tufts and MIT, and an MBA from Harvard.
