Michael Simon has been at the forefront of energy and transportation technology for nearly 40 years. As president & chief executive officer of TransPower since 2010, Simon has helped organize and lead a dynamic team of innovators who are working to transform the way the world powers large vehicles and manages electrical energy in the 21st Century. TransPower is one of the first companies to develop and manufacture electric vehicle systems that can reliably power the largest class 8 on-road trucks and off-road tractors, and has also adapted these technologies to school buses. Before founding TransPower, from 2006 to 2010, Simon was director of commercial business development for the electromagnetic systems division of General Atomics. From 1995 until 2005, Simon was chairman of the board and co-chief executive officer of ISE Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced hybrid-electric and fuel cell systems for large transit buses. From 1982 to 1993, Simon was an engineer and project manager at General Dynamics (GD) space systems division, and before this he worked for two years as a research fellow for NASA headquarters in Washington, DC. He received his M.S. in Engineering-Economic Systems (now the department of management science and engineering) from Stanford University in 1981.
