Dean Stapleton is senior manager, alternative fuels, for Penske Truck Leasing. Based at the company’s headquarters in Reading, Pennsylvania, he heads the corporation’s alternative fuels program, which provides natural gas, propane, hybrid and electric-powered vehicles for Penske’s rental, lease, and logistics customers. Stapleton leads its development and management, alternative fuel equipment implementations, government grant management, analytics and reporting. Upon joining the company in 2005, he served in a variety of capacities for Penske Truck Leasing and Penske Logistics which included: six sigma black belt, logistics project manager, driver sourcing leader and manager of organizational development. Before becoming a Penske associate, Stapleton was a career United States Naval engineering officer, serving for 26 years before retiring with the rank of Lt. Commander. During his time with the Navy, he served tours in nuclear submarines and diesel and steam powered surface ships. In addition, Stapleton was a naval special warfare engineering officer, director of the naval firefighting school and a chief auxiliary’s inspector. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, technology management from Saint Leo University in Florida
