Tomi Medved graduated at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, in 2012. His diploma thesis done under the supervision of prof. dr. Andrej Gubina was entitled "Indicators for monitoring of the wholesale electricity market". Form 2013 till 2017 he was employed at Elektro Energija, the biggest electricity retail company in Slovenia. While his initial duties for the first 2 years included risk management, he later worked in Market Analytics Department. He is also a PhD candidate working as a researcher at the Laboratory of Energy Policy (LEST) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering since 2011. He was also a visiting researcher at UCLA Smart Grid Energy Research Center (SMERC) (Oct. 2015- Mar. 2016), where he worked on implementing a machine learning algorithms into scheduling control for demand response (DR). His main research topics are Smart Grids, renewables integration, demand response optimization, electricity markets modelling and policy design. At LEST he actively participated in several EU projects (APRAISE, INCREASE and STORY).
