Ralf Bucher works since 2001 with Lahmeyer International (a company of Tractebel/ENGIE) and acts as project manager and power infrastructure expert. He has 20 years of professional experience in large hydro and high-voltage transmission systems, covering all phases from initial studies to supervision of commissioning. Previously, he was employed as electronics engineer and project manager with Voith Siemens Hydro. Ralf's strategic interest is on innovative concepts preparing for smart and as such 100-%-renewable-based electricity infrastructure. Presently, he leads company-internal innovation projects, such as grid-scale battery energy storage systems and digital substation technology. He is permanent member of the DIN committee on hydraulic turbines of the German engineering federation VDMA (mirror committee to IEC-TC4) and of the international steering team of the HYDRO conference series. He has published 5 peer-review scientific articles and held more than 20 presentations at international conferences.
