Dr Martin Aten obtained his MSc degree at Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands) in 1995 and his PhD degree at UMIST (Manchester, UK) in 2003. From 1995 he was employed by ALSTOM T&D in Stafford, and since 2006 he has been employed by Uniper Technologies (formerly E.ON Technologies). His work experience includes modelling, simulation and R&D in the areas of generation (fossil fuel, nuclear and renewables), transmission and distribution systems, power electronic systems (HVDC and FACTS), control design and testing, and commissioning work. Dr M Aten is a member of the IEEE and IET.
