Michelle Young has been a firefighter for more than 24 years and was one of the first female firefighters in Australia. She is now the director of Regional Operations in Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. She has formal qualifications in vocational education, police and emergency management, and executive leadership. She has commanded large-scale incidents including cyclones, floods, and structural fires. She is the International Trustee on the Board of Trustees for iWomen.
