KEITH STAKES is a research engineer at the UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute. He studies the effectiveness of fireground tactics and firefighter safety. He has a Bachelors and Masters degree in fire protection engineering from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase (MD) Rescue Squad and currently serves as a Battalion Chief.
