Jana Ganion
Sustainability and Government Affairs Director
Blue Lake Rancheria
As Sustainability Director for the Blue Lake Rancheria, Jana has established the Tribe’s strategy for community resilience and rapid transition to zero-carbon energy. In fulfilling the Tribe's zero-carbon strategy, Jana has managed over $15 million in projects in energy efficiency, distribution grid optimization, solar PV power, advanced energy storage, green transportation and fuels, supply chain efficiency, building efficiency, and a low-carbon, community-scale microgrid. As a result of this work, the Tribe has reduced energy costs by ~$300,000 per year, and increased employment by 10%. As an appointee to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Indian Country Energy and Infrastructure Working Group, and the State of California’s Integrated Climate Adaptation and Resilience Technical Advisory Committee, Jana works with other governments and stakeholders at the tribal, federal, state, and local levels on zero-carbon energy and sustainability policies, programs, and projects.
