Craig Miller has thirty years of very diverse experience in the development and commercialization and advanced technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Energy Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. He work in energy began with the National Energy Plan, including extensive work on energy systems in developing countries, and continues with his management of a $68 million smart grid technology project spanning 10 states. As with any modern engineering, much of his work addressed the software side of the technology. In 1997 he was awarded a gold medal by the Smithsonian Institution for “heroic achievement in the advancement of information technology.” Cyber Security has been a critical element in his work for more than 20 years. His most recent work has focused on development of guidance for co-ops to develop cyber security plans centered on a strategy for continuous improvement. He has served as the CTO of several companies, both publicly traded and private, and a Chief Scientist of a multi-billion dollar integration firm. He is an accomplished inventor and entrepreneur, with experience in several successful startups. Dr. Miller is now overseeing the smart gid demonstration project funded by the Recovery Act involving 23 co-operatives.
