Mr. Tartaglia assumed the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Technology and Innovation Officer (CTIO) in January 2016. As CTIO he is responsible for establishing the enterprise wide strategic and technical vision by leading all aspects of the organization’s technology development and long-range direction of NYPA’s Research & Development (R&D) and Strategic Operations Program Management functions. Under his leadership NYPA has created the Integrated Smart Operations Center (iSOC), the Advanced Grid Innovation Laboratory for Energy (AGILe) and is earned ISO 55000 Asset Management certification. Prior to his current position he held the position of Senior Vice President Energy Resource Management for 4 years. His responsibilities included energy market analysis, generation resource management, fuel planning and market operations. He worked collaboratively with the New York Independent System Operator on market policy and commercial transactions. Mr. Tartaglia held the position of Regional Manager, Southeast New York from 2005 through 2013. In this role he managed the Power Authority’s generating facilities in metropolitan New York. He spent two years as a staff engineer in White Plains and 12 years as an Operations Supervisor and Operations before being named Regional Manager. He held leadership positions for the commissioning of the Authorities fleet of Small Clean Power Plants, and the 500 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant. He attended Polytechnic University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Operations Management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a New York City Stationary Engineers License. Mr. Tartaglia represents the Authority on several boards, including the Electric Power Research Institute’s Research Advisory Council Executive Leadership Team EPRI Generation Council Executive Committee and The Association of Edison Illuminating Companies Generation Committee.
