Betsy Knowles is a Regional Director for Aon’s Construction, Power & Infrastructure (CP&I) Specialty Practice in Asia. She is based in Hong Kong and has more than 19 years of experience in risk management, insurance, financial analysis, power marketing and trading. At Aon, Betsy is a risk and insurance advisor for many of the world’s leading firms including, among others, China General Nuclear, Korea Electric Power Corporation, CNNC and Shanghai Disney Resort. Prior to Aon, she was the Corp. Risk & Insurance Manager for Duke Energy Corp. in the USA. She had the primary responsibility of providing risk management services and managing the insurable risks for Duke’s 55,000MW operational generation assets spanning from fossil, hydro to nuclear and renewables. She also managed insurance for Duke’s power construction projects including ICGG, Super critical coal fired power plant and Combined cycle gas fired power plant. She holds professional designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) from The Institutes which is a leading provider of professional education for the risk management and property-casualty insurance industry in the USA. She is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
