Colonel Shermoan Daiyaan is a graduate of Officer Candidate School at Fort Moore, GA where he received his commission as a Signal Officer. He has held numerous command and staff positions during his career of service to our Army. His first assignment was with the 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC, where he served as Platoon Leader, Bravo Company 82nd Signal Battalion (BN). He was then assigned to Delta Company, 13th Signal BN, 1st Calvary Division, Ft. Cavazos, TX. While assigned to Delta Company, he served as Platoon Leader of both the Assault Command Post and Tactical Satellite Platoons. COL Daiyaan then returned to Fort Bragg where he served as Maintenance Officer for the 50th Signal BN, (Forced Entry) (Airborne), 35th Signal Brigade, and later as Company Commander of Alpha Company 50th Signal BN, (Forced Entry) (Airborne). In 2004, he deployed his unit to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After Company Command, COL Daiyaan was assigned to the Army Evaluation Command (AEC) as a Software Test Officer and then assessed into the Acquisition Corps. His next assignment was to the DEVCOM as the Program Officer in Charge (OIC) for Experimental and Developmental Programs and later Aide-de-Camp for the DEVCOM Commanding General. He was then deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan as the CJTF-10 Science and Technology OIC for RC-S/W. His following assignment was to the Pentagon in the office of ASA(ALT) as Executive Officer for the Principal Military Deputy. COL Daiyaan was then assigned to PEO IEW&S at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, as an Assistant Product Manager for PM DCGS-A. COL Daiyaan was next assigned as an Acquisition Career Manager at Human Resources Command (HRC), Ft Knox, KY. Next, he returned to the Pentagon as the Assistant Executive Officer to the Army CIO/G-6. After his time in the Pentagon, he was slated as the Product Manager for Tactical Mission Command (TMC) within Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, and Network (PEO C3N) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. After Senior Service College, COL Daiyaan was assigned the Chief, Acquisition Management Branch, HRC, Ft Knox, KY. His most recent assignment was Project Manager Tactical Radios within PEO C3N. He currently serves as Project Manager Mission Command within PEO C3N. COL Daiyaan’s military education includes the Signal Officer Basic Course, Signal Captains Career Course, Combined Arms & Services Staff School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Army Acquisition Basic Course, U.S. Army Command & General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College. COL Daiyaan has received a B.S. in Business Administration from Fayetteville State University; Master’s Degrees in Management and Leadership and Info Tech Management both from Webster University; and Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one silver oak leaf, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development (2 device), NATO Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Parachutist and Air Assault Badge. COL Daiyaan is a native of Phoenix, AZ and is married to Tina Daiyaan of the District of Columbia. They have three adult children, Imani, Medina, and Jamilyah.
