Mr. Bob Tarleton, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Director, Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Directorate, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He is responsible for acquiring, deploying, and sustaining the $40 billion MILSATCOM portfolio of programs, which consists of Acquisition Category I and II programs including the Defense Satellite Communications System, Milstar, Global Broadcast Service, Wideband Global SATCOM, the Advanced EHF program, Enhanced Polar System, Command and Control System-Consolidated, and associated Terminal programs. Mr. Tarleton has held a variety of leadership positions in government and industry, primarily in the acquisition of DOD communications systems. He began his career serving in systems engineering, software, and production management roles before being selected as the Navy’s Deputy Program Manager and then Program Manager for Communications Satellite Programs responsible for the acquisition of the DOD’s narrowband communications satellites systems. During his tenure as Program Manager, he oversaw the successful on-orbit delivery of the final Ultra High Frequency Follow-On satellite as well as initiating the next generation Mobile User Objective System program. Mr. Tarleton was then selected as a member of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service to lead the Transformational Communications Architecture at the National Security Space Office. Most recently, he served as a senior manager with Booz Allen Hamilton supporting the Navy Program Executive Office (PEO) for Space Systems, the Navy PEO for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence and the Joint PEO for Joint Tactical Radio Systems.
