Dr. Betsy Hall is Assistant Dean and Professor in a CACREP accredited Master of Arts in Counseling Program. As a Counselor Educator and Supervisor, she teaches Counseling Techniques, Advanced Counseling Techniques, Practicum and Internship Clinical Supervision, Substance Abuse Counseling, and a Personal Mythology and Narrative class. She earned the distinction of receiving the Excellence in Teaching Award 2 years in a row at her University. For 30 years, Betsy has practiced as a clinician working with adolescents and adults in an outpatient private practice, outpatient mental health center, and inpatient psychiatric hospital. She has expertise in treating trauma, mood disturbance, life transitions, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. For 24 years, she has provided clinical supervision to licensure seeking LPC’s and LCSW’s.    Aside from her teaching responsibilities at the University, Betsy has offered extensive training workshops to adolescent residential treatment centers on trauma, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. In these workshops, she trains counselors in assessment and treatment strategies for both individual and group therapy. She has also lectured locally, nationally and internationally on topics related to therapeutic uses of mythological, literary and metaphoric imagery. In 1985, she earned a Masters in Clinical Social Work, and then returned to complete a doctorate in Mythological Studies with emphasis in Depth Psychology in 2004. Betsy integrates depth, existential, and cognitive therapies into her practices as a mental health provider, counselor educator, clinical supervisor, and workshop presenter.
