Dr. Field has 10 years of counseling experience with over 1,000 clients in a variety of settings. A National Certified Counselor (NCC), he is also a licensed counselor in Washington state (LMHC) and Virginia (LPC). Dr. Field has provided national-level presentations on the topic of neuroscience in counseling, including a well-attended Learning Institute on neuroscience-informed cognitive behavior therapy during last year’s (2014) ACA conference. He is first author of a published peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Mental Health Counseling (July 2015) on the topic of neuroscience-informed cognitive-behavior therapy. Dr. Field is also sole author of a published peer-reviewed article in The Professional Counselor on the topic of integrating neuroscience into counseling practice. He is Chair of the AMHCA Neuroscience Interest Network, and a member of the ACA and ACES Neuroscience Interest Networks. He is also a member of the AMHCA Advancement of Clinical Practice committee. His research on Dialectical Behavior Therapy received the 2013 AMHCA Foundation dissertation research award.
