Nahla Ivy is the Enterprise Risk Management Officer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce located in Gaithersburg, MD. Ms. Ivy has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. At NIST, Ms. Ivy has led the development and implementation of the agency-level Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, including the development of a customized ERM framework for application at the organization, program and project levels. Ms. Ivy has conducted several successful ERM pilots at NIST and recently guided NIST senior management on topics including risk appetite, effective ERM governance, and integration of risks and controls. Ms. Ivy is currently supporting the Commerce Department’s OMB Circular A-123 implementation planning effort. Prior to joining NIST, Ms. Ivy worked with the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Financial Risk, Policy and Controls as a Program Analyst and Acting Assistant Director for Risk Analysis, where she provided risk oversight for a $6B American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) project portfolio and later co-managed the Department’s internal controls program. In private industry, she was the Director of Global Data Management for a financial services and corporate governance firm. In this role, she oversaw a research and analytics division with teams located in the U.S., Europe and Asia and serviced over 300 clients representing a portfolio of 6,000 global companies. Ms. Ivy has a B.A. in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from the College of William & Mary and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business.
