Gianni Onorato oversees MSC Cruises’ growth from its Geneva headquarters, reporting to the MSC Board of Directors and Executive Chairman, Pierfrancesco Vago. Today, MSC Cruises is the number one cruise line in Europe (including the Mediterranean), South America and South Africa, with 16,000 staff and offices in 45 countries. Onorato’s sharp understanding of the cruise industry comes from a 30-year career. In 1986 he was Costa Crociere’s Food & Beverage Manager, then Cruise Product Director. He became Vice President & Cruise Operations Director in 1997, then President from 2004 to 2013. Italian-born Onorato graduated in 1983 in Foreign Languages & Literatures from the Istituto Orientale of Naples, then specialized at SDA Bocconi, in Milan, and INSEAD, in Fontainebleau.
