Mr. Karim Karoui is the manager of the section “Control & Operation” and the technical director of the product Power System Consulting of Tractebel Engineering. He is the grid Top Expert of the GDFSUEZ group since June 2014. He is the lead engineer in the modelling part of the software activities of Tractebel Engineering (EUROSTAG®). He has been involved in various major European Union public funded R&D project as expert (EUDEEP on the integration of distributed energy resources; ITESLA on the operation of the Pan-European grid; ICOEUR on Russia-Europe interconnection) or project manager (RELIANCE on a EU R&D roadmap and PEGASE on methods and tools for secure operation of the pan European power system). Current R&D activities of Karim Karoui includes among other automatic techniques of calibration and PMU based Special Protection Scheme tuning of complex power system. He is member of CIGRE and IEEE and has been the CIGRE B4 HVDC committee Belgian national representative during many years. He authored various publications on self-healing systems, reliability and security of supply and transient behaviour of public and industrial power system.
