Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate is presently the Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand or EGAT, one of Thailand’s biggest state enterprises and also the biggest power producer of the country generating system. He started his career at EGAT in Thermal Power Plant Construction Division in 1978. He served as Assistant Director of Thermal Power Plant Construction Division from 2004-2006, Director of Project Development and Planning Division from 2007-2009, Assistant Governor- Fuel Management from 2010-2011 and Deputy Governor-Power Plant Development from 2011-2013. He is Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) since 31 July 2013. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University. He participated in various executives programs both domestic and abroad such as Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School in 2011, the Director Accreditation Program at the Thai Institute of Directors Association, the Executives Program at Thailand Energy Academy, the Executives Program at the Capital Market Academy and Democracy - The Rule of Law at the Office of the Constitutional Court.
