Josef is an Electrical Engineer by education who has worked in the Electric Energy Field for the past 27 years with the last 23 permanently based in South East Asia. During his career he has lead a number of mayor strategic initiatives of ELIN and VATECH contributing substantially to the Export Success of the Austrian Industry for various thermal power plants, gas combined cycle power plants, conventional and GIS substations, and always with a strong focus on hydro power plants in Asia, Australia and New Zealand during the last 2 decades. In the period 1998 – 2002 at the peak of the Asian Financial Crisis he served as Regional Chairmen responsible for all of VATECH activities including Metallurgy, Energy and Industrial Services operations from India to China as well as Australia and New Zealand with the main objective to consolidate their Subsidiaries in the Region from 68 to 22 while substantially increasing the Order Intake and profitability. Since 2006 he is running ANDRITZ Hydro operation in Indonesia and lead the Market Development Team of ANDRITZ HYDRO for South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. As for ELIN and VATECH he is also again strongly involved in the Global Management Team for ANDRITZ HYDRO GmbH and in 2008 has designed the ANDRITZ HYDRO Vision 2012 for SEA and Asia which is currently under implementation. The latest global strategic initiative lead by Josef was the implementation of Low Cost High Skill Site Services for ANDRITZ HYDRO building on the global Site Service Experience of PT ANDRITZ HYDRO as well as ANDRITZ HYDRO’s venture into the OCEAN Energy field with the takeover of Hammerfest Strom a technology leader in the field of Tidal Current Generation.
