CDR Jill Shugart is a Senior Environmental Health Specialist with the CDC/NIOSH Emergency Preparedness and Response Office located in Atlanta, Georgia. She is also the Emergency Responder Health Monitoring and Surveillance (ERHMS) Coordinator for NIOSH. She has worked on a variety of environmental and occupational public health and safety issues both domestically and internationally with multiple federal, state, local, and Tribal entities in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vessel Sanitation Program, the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) as the first Field Officer in Region VII of the Hospital Preparedness Program, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry as a Region VII Representative, and with the Indian Health Service in the Keams Canyon Service Unit. She has prepared for and responded to several public health emergencies, including: multiple hurricanes, floods, oil spills, Ebola, Zika, and other infectious disease outbreaks.
