Rob Schaerer, P.E. (robert.schaerer@powereng.com) is a Project Engineer and the Technical Manager of Infrastructure Design Studies for POWER Engineers, Inc. In his 10 year career with POWER, Schaerer has focused on various electrical studies for power transmission and distribution system designs. He is one of POWER’s lead grounding engineers, participating in grounding testing and grounding analyses for hundreds of substations, industrial facilities, and generation plants with systems up to 500 kV. He is very active in multiple IEEE working groups and has authored a number of papers including topics on wind and solar power plant grounding design. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho and is presently an adjunct instructor for multiple courses in Gonzaga University’s T&D graduate degree program.
