Chief Engineer & Chief System Architect with Southern States LLC, Automation & Sensor Division; Senior Member of IEEE PES. Jiyuan has 35 years of experience in the Electric Transmission and Distribution industry. He received his BS degree from Taiyuan University of Technology, Taiyuan, China, MS degree from Chinese EPRI, Beijing, China and PhD’s degree from Clarkson University, New York, USA, and worked as a Post Doctorial Research Associate at Texas A&M University. Since then, he has worked in the Power System Automation area, including Smart Grid Solutions, Grid Automation and Analytics, T&D Automation, EMS, DMS, OMS, SA, AMI, SCADA, IEDs, etc., with the companies of Advanced Control Systems, Inc., Telvent Automation, Beijing Sifang Automation. He was with GE Digital Energy as the Strategic Planning Leader and Senior System Engineer on Smart Grid Solutions from 2008 to 2014. He is currently with Southern States LLC responsible for Grid Automation, Advanced Solutions and Smart IEDs Development. Jiyuan was the chief architecture technical leader with ACS in developing/deploying the first full scale of DMS system in the industry in 1999-2002 and with Sifang in developing a generic Power Automation Platform for implementation and integration of DMS, EMS, SA, SCADA, etc., in 2003-2006. Jiyuan has published more than 30 papers and taught tutorial courses on Distribution Automation and Management systems in IEEE PES and DistribuTech conferences in the last five years.
