Harlan Sur is the senior analyst covering the semiconductor and semiconductor capital equipment sectors. Harlan joined J.P. Morgan in 2009. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Harlan spent eight years at Morgan Stanley co-covering/covering the semiconductor sector with a primary focus on communications semiconductor companies and in 2006 became the lead analyst covering the semiconductor capital equipment sector. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Harlan spent 11 years in the semiconductor industry in various engineering/engineering management positions (manufacturing and chip design) at Samsung Semiconductor and VLSI Technology and business roles (product marketing manager for wireless semiconductor products) at Philips Semiconductor. Harlan is the primary/co-inventor on 19 US patents in areas of semiconductor manufacturing and design. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southern California with a BS in electrical engineering and an MBA from the University of San Francisco.
