Vice President, Business Development & Sales
IMEC
Lauwers oversees the corporate business development of IMEC business lines, CMOS scaling, smart systems and energy, with a shared responsibility over sales with the vice president worldwide account management. In the area of CMOS technology, he is responsible for IMEC business offerings, covering collaborations with leading IC manufacturers and equipment and material suppliers worldwide. Lauwers joined imec in 1985 as a researcher in the area of CMOS device modelling and simulation until 1992, which was the subject of his PhD in 1993. Stepping away for other pursuits, he came back to the organization, and since 2005, he has held various roles in IMEC’s technology business and sales field, including director strategic program partnerships, with a main focus on IMEC’s core CMOS program, and having regional sales responsibility for IMEC business in Japan. Prior to imec, Lauwers was general manager of ASIC design house Easics NV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TranSwitch Corporation, a provider of application-specific standard products for the telecom industry. Additionally, he was senior scientific advisor at IWT, institute for the promotion of science and technology in Flanders, where he coordinated and advised for government funding in local and European cooperative networks in micro-electronics and telecommunications. Lauwers has his master’s degree in electro-technical and electronics engineering and his PhD in applied sciences.
