Dr. Jeff Stuart is a Principal Member of the Engineering Staff in the Emerging Technology Laboratory at Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) in Cherry Hill, NJ. He is a subject matter expert in nanobiotechnology and is site lead for biotechnology and flexible electronics. Jeff received his PhD in Biophysics from Syracuse University; his research involved the integration of biological molecules for device applications (optical holographic memories, sensors, and artificial nose applications). Prior to joining Lockheed Martin ATL, he held research faculty positions at Syracuse University and the University of Connecticut (Institute for Materials Science). Jeff has been PI on a variety of funded grants from the DoD (AFRL, ARO), the NSF, the Army Institute for Collaborative Biotechnology, and industry. He has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and holds four patents (two pending). Jeff’s work at LM ATL has been focused on innovative nanobio- and bio-mimetic technologies for the Corporate Nanotechnology program, with an emphasis on chem-bio sensor and artificial nose development, bio-derived energy, and advanced functional biomaterials. In his current position, Jeff bridges the Human Systems Optimization and Materials & Process Technologies research areas in the ATL Emerging Technology Lab, by focusing on materials and manufacturing technologies that will enable wearable sensor architectures. He also supports the Lockheed Martin Corporate Accelerating Manufacturing Innovation initiative, acting as the point of contact for activities in Flexible and Hybrid Electronics, and Nano- & Bio- Electronics. In addition, Jeff currently serves on the NBMC Technical Advisory Board and as Chair of the NBMC Governing Board.
