Shane Tiernan is an Associate Director of Law Enforcement Liaison and Education for Purdue Pharma. Prior to joining Purdue in 2013, Mr. Tiernan was the Deputy Director for the State of Utah Insurance Fraud Division. During his tenure with the Insurance Fraud Division, Mr. Tiernan conducted criminal investigations of cases involving drug diversion, prescription fraud, property theft, as well as complex white-collar crime cases. Prior to joining the Insurance Fraud Division, Mr. Tiernan was an investigator for the State of Utah, Division of Occupational & Professional Licensing (DOPL) from 1998 to 2002. This position involved the investigation of unlawful and unprofessional conduct related to licensed health care professionals. In late 2004 through 2007, Mr. Tiernan served as a task force officer on the Health Care Fraud Task Force and the Violent Crimes Task Force with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Salt Lake City office. Mr. Tiernan has regularly provided education to medical practitioners, law enforcement officers, and industry professionals regarding pharmaceutical drug diversion, lawful prescribing, and insurance fraud. He is also a member of the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI). Mr. Tiernan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Law from Weber State University.
