Dan Duvall is the Chief Medical Officer for the Center for Program Integrity at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, having previously been a medical officer in CMS’ Hospital and Ambulatory Policy Group. He is responsible for overseeing the NCCI program for CMS, was the lead medical officer for the conversion of CMS system edits from ICD-9 to ICD-10, and is involved in edit development within the Medicare Fraud Prevention System. An Emergency Physician, he also has an MBA from Duke and has spent the last 20 years as a designer and programmer, business process engineer, claims data analyst and Medical Director for government and commercial entities, including Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, commercial HMO and PPO programs. He particularly enjoys working on projects that integrate claim processing logic with large data tables in order to reduce the time and cost of system maintenance.
