Shih-Chieh Kao

Dr. Shih-Chieh Kao is a hydrologist in the Environmental Sciences Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His areas of research expertise are hydropower resource assessment, hydrologic extremes, climatic impact assessment, and water availability. Dr. Kao has led several Department of Energy Water Power Technologies Office projects, including SECURE Water Act Section 9505 Report to Congress, and New Stream-reach Development hydropower resource assessments. Prior to ORNL, Dr. Kao was a research associate at Purdue University, where he earned his doctorate in civil engineering in 2008. He has been a technical reviewer for several science journals, and has also been awarded as an Outstanding Reviewer for the Journal Hydrologic Engineering in 2009.
