Mr. François Vitez is Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, Hydro for SNC-Lavalin, one of the leading engineering and construction groups in the world and a major player in the ownership of infrastructure. www.snclavalin.com Mr. Vitez is a professional Civil Engineer from the University of Sherbrooke whose work began in the field of hydropower in 1992 for the Hydro Quebec James Bay hydroelectric complex. From 1996 to 2000, he helped develop numerous small hydropower projects in Nepal including the Khudi Hydropower Project considered to be a model for integrated renewable energy development in Nepal and well recognised in Canada, winning both the Quebec and Canadian Engineering Association awards in 2008. Since 2000, Mr. Vitez has assisted developers with the implementation of their hydro projects throughout Canada and internationally, namely in Haiti, Jamaica, Chile, Brazil and Nepal. From 2011 to 2014, Mr. Vitez was VP Operations, Hydro for SNC-Lavalin and is now leading the business development activities for their global Hydro Business Unit. Mr. Vitez is committed to the development of hydropower resources as a means for sustainable economic development in Canada and in developing countries. Mr. Vitez is fulfilling this commitment through his every day work as well as through volunteering in various organizations including the Canadian Center for International Studies and Cooporation (www.CECI.ca) where he recently served as a Board Member for over 6 years.
