Principal
George W. Annandale, Inc.

Dr. Annandale has 40 years of experience as a civil engineer specializing in water resources engineering. He offers services in the field of fluvial geomorphology, fluvial hydraulics, and hydrology and bulk water supply from rivers. He has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and is author, co-author and contributing author of eight books on sedimentation, scour and sustainability. Having worked on numerous river projects around the world, including river restoration, bank stabilization, and pipeline, dam foundation and bridge pier scour projects, and investigating aggradation and degradation of rivers, Dr. Annandale offers specialized knowledge, including sediment transport modeling experience, in this area of expertise. Part of his practice focuses on sustainability and climate change by providing services in planning and policy development facilitating water resource and water infrastructure sustainability. His most recent book, entitled: “Quenching the Thirst: Sustainable Water Supply and Climate Change”, details a comprehensive approach to facilitate sustainable development of river-based water supply projects. He is an expert in reservoir sedimentation management and its effects on downstream rivers and is recognized as a global leader in this field. Dr. Annandale is known for the development of the Erodibility Index Method that can be used to determine the erodibility of any earth material. The method has been accepted worldwide. He authored the book "Scour Technology", published by McGraw-Hill in 2006. He has worked extensively on dam safety projects, focusing particularly on scour and erosion downstream of dams, and on spillway safety. For his work in this field of specialization International Water Power and Dam Construction has named him as one of 20 engineers that has had the greatest global influence on dam engineering in the last decade.
