David A. Wright is Program Director in the International Section of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE). He is currently responsible for NVE’s institutional cooperation programs in Myanmar, Bhutan and Tanzania. David has over 30 years experience in hydropower and water resources development in Asia, Africa and Europe and extensive experience from development assistance projects and capacity building. NVE is a directorate under the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy with mandate to ensure an integrated and environmentally sound management of Norway’s water resources, promote efficient energy markets and cost-effective energy systems, and contribute to efficient energy use. Part of NVE’s work is to regulate dam safety in Norway. In development assistance, NVE’s work includes institutional cooperation programmes initiated by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
