Maria Pope serves as senior vice president, Power Supply and Operations and Resource Strategy. She oversees PGE's energy supply portfolio; operations, including wholesale power, fuels, marketing, trading and long-term resource strategy; and generation facilities, including 14 thermal, hydro and wind facilities, and three planned new thermal and wind facilities. Pope joined PGE in 2009 as senior vice president of Finance, chief financial officer and treasurer, overseeing all financial areas, risk management, rates and regulatory affairs, property and facilities. She also served on PGE’s Board of Directors from 2006 to 2008. Prior to joining PGE, Pope was chief financial officer of Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT), a publicly traded software company. She also served in senior operating and finance positions within the forest products industry and international consumer products, overseeing sales, supply chain, plant operations, information technology, finance, human resources and legal affairs. Pope began her career with Morgan Stanley, working on mergers and acquisitions in New York and Tokyo. In 2010, Pope was appointed by Oregon’s governor to serve on the Governing Board of Oregon Health Sciences University, the state’s health and research university and one of Oregon’s largest employers. She is also on the boards of Umpqua Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: UMPQ) and Pope Resources L.P. (NASDAQ: POPE), a timberland investment and management company. Previously, Pope served as lead director for the board of Premera BlueCross and was on the board of TimberWest Forest Corp. She is also a past chair of the Canadian Council of Forest Industries and the Oregon Symphony. Pope is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University, where she is a member of the Board of Advisors. She has three children and is married to Peter Beatty, a physician.
