Duncan Hay graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1964 and followed this with post-graduate work at the University of California in Berkeley (1967) and the International Course in Hydraulic Engineering in Delft, Netherlands (1969). Mr. Hay's technical expertise lies in the water resources field with particular emphasis in the areas of riv-ers, coasts, hydraulic structures, environmental hydraulics and hydraulic modelling. His experience in project work has ranged from problem definition and conceptual design to taking the lead role in hydraulic designs. Mr. Hay is well versed in the technical and administrative management of multi-disciplinary teams. In recent years he has been providing technical direction and specialist engineering for a number of multi-year multi-disciplinary studies related to fish passage, TDG abatement, and hydro developments. He is active in undertaking technical reviews and in litigations as an expert witness. Mr. Hay is the author of numerous technical reports and papers. He is the recipient of the Camille A. Dagenais Award from the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers for contributions to hydrotechnical engineering, 1989: the Meritorious Achievement Award from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia for outstanding technical excellence in the engineering profession, 1998; and, the Hydraulic Structures Medal from the American Society of Civil Engineers, 2009.
