Richard is Hatch's Principal Consultant for Dams and Waterpower. He has a post graduate degree in geotechnical/civil engineering and 40 years’ experience in all aspects of the design and construction of hydroelectric facilities. He has worked in14 countries, leading design studies and serving as Construction Manager, including the performance of over 300 dam safety assessments In Canada, Richard assisted in the 2007 update of the CDA dam safety guidelines and assisted the Province of Ontario, Parks Canada and The St. Lawrence Seaway in the development of dam safety standards. Internationally, he led the development of dam safety standards in Costa Rica, El Salvador and Nepal.
