Doug Davis is currently with New Mexico State Universirty Physical Science Laboratory where he is the Director for Global UAS Strategic Initiatives. In this role, he is pursuing solutions to enable the integration of UAS into the Global airspace environment. Doug is a member of the EUROCAE WG-73 Leadership Team. In addition, Doug is currently serving as the Co-Chair to the OSD Sense and Avoid Science and Research Panel. Doug is also serving as the Civil Air Navigation Service Organization (CANSO) Co-Chair of the Collaborative Airspace Workgroup UAS Task Force. Prior to coming to New Mexico State, Doug worked for 25 years in the FAA, beginning his aviation career in 1984 as an air traffic controller at the Jacksonville Air Route Traffic Control Center. Later in his FAA career, he was selected as the first manager to stand-up, organize, and lead the newly created Unmanned Aircraft Program Office (UAPO), responsible for the safe integration of UAS into the NAS by developing the procedures and regulations for certification, licensing, training, inspection, maintenance, and operations of UAS. Mr. Davis has a B.A. in Business Administration and is married with two girls.
