Paul is Sr. Manager, Regulatory Policy for Hyundai Motor Groups new Air Mobility Division. He serves as advisor to Hyundai on matters relating to regulation & policy for air mobility operations. Paul’s involvement in air mobility development is extensive. Prior to joining Hyundai, he served as regulatory advisor to Boeing’s Horizon X division. Prior to joining Boeing, he held the position of Vice President of Government Relations for Insitu, Inc. responsible for driving much of the company’s efforts transitioning into to commercial & civil market opportunities for unmanned aircraft. Prior to joining Insitu in 2006, he transitioned from a 30 year career in academia as a full professor, Chief Pilot/Instructor, & Vice President of Aviation Training at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). He has served on the AUVSI board of directors & Advocacy Committee. Paul was a charter member of the FAA’s small Unmanned Aircraft System Aviation Rulemaking Committee & past member of the FAA UAS Aviation Rulemaking Committee & UAS Remote ID & Tracking Rulemaking Committee. He is past working group chair on ASTM’s F-38 Committee developing industry consensus standards for small UAS. Paul also served two terms as chair of the Aeronautical Industries Association UAS Committee. Paul recently completed a 7 year term as co-chair of RTCA Special Committee 228 chartered by FAA to establish performance standards for UAS command & control & detect & avoid solutions. Paul was awarded the RTCA 2017 Achievement Award & Outstanding Leader Award. Paul is a former member of the Unmanned Aircraft Safety Team steering committee & was a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, & Medicine UAS Risk Assessment & Urban Air Mobility Study Panels. Paul is an active pilot, aircraft owner holding Airline Transport Pilot, & Flight Instructor Certificates, with jet type ratings, has logged over 10,000 flight hours & holds both a Bachelors & Master’s degree from ERAU.
