Katie Sweeney
Fish Biologist
Alaska Ecosystem Program
Katie Sweeney is a Fish Biologist at the Marine Mammal Laboratory (MML, NOAA) in Seattle, WA. Katie primarily studies the population abundance and life history of Steller sea lion and northern fur seal populations in Alaska. She is one of the MML’s hexacopter pilots and has participated in several successful surveys with the platform since 2014. For the first survey, the UAS was used to supplement a traditional aerial survey and resulted in the most complete survey of Steller sea lions in the Aleutian Islands since the 1970’s.
