Paul Cravey was assigned to 5th Battalion (Attack), 501st Aviation Regiment at Fort Hood, TX with follow on deployment to the Republic of Korea, where he served as HHC XO, Support Platoon Leader, and Aero-scout Platoon Leader. He was then assigned to the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk Louisiana where he served as an Attack/Cavalry and Aviation Live Fire Observer/Controller. After completion of the Aviation Officer Advanced Course he was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th U.S. Cavalry Regiment in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC, where he served as Squadron Assistant S3 and Air Cavalry Troop Commander. After Troop command, COL Cravey was assigned to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA where he served as an Attack/Cavalry and Operations Observer Controller. COL Cravey was subsequently assigned to the 25th Infantry Division with assignments as 1-25 AVN(ATK) Battalion S3, 3-25 IBCT Brigade Aviation Officer and 25th Combat Aviation Brigade S3 with two combat deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following deployment he was assigned as the 5th Battlefield Coordination Detachment Operations Officer at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. COL Cravey was subsequently selected to command a Security Force Advisor Team in Kandahar Afghanistan in support of the Afghan Border Police in Regional Command South. From 2012-2014, he commanded 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Riley, KS. After command, COL Cravey served as the G3 for the Brigade Modernization Command at Fort Bliss, TX. COL Cravey is a graduate of the Aviation Officers Basic Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, US Army Ranger Course, US Army Jumpmaster Course, Aviation Officers Advance Course, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.
