Project Lifesaver is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization that provides law enforcement,first responders,& caregivers with equipment/training to quickly locate/rescue individuals prone to wandering.


Jarvis Eugene "Gene" Saunders retired as Cpt. of the Chesapeake PD after 33 years of service & previous military experience. He founded the Project Lifesaver program in Oct.'98, when it became apparent to that there was a major void that needed to be filled in providing search/rescue/protection for “At Risk” individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. Saunders served in the National and State Guard commanding Aviation and Ranger Units, where he earned the rank of Major. In addition to extensive military, law enforcement and special operations training, Saunders holds degrees from Old Dominion University, Southern Police Institute and the University of Louisville.
