James Wells Director, Department of Administration State of Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval appointed Jim Wells Director of the Department of Administration on March 2, 2015. The Director serves as the State’s Budget Director and is responsible for managing most statewide central services. Prior to his appointment as Director, Mr. Wells served as Executive Officer for the State’s Public Employees’ Benefits Program (PEPB) managing health care benefits for over 65,000 employees, retirees and dependents and previously served as the Deputy Superintendent for Administration and Finance for the Nevada Department of Education and the Chief Financial Officer for PEBP. He has over 23 years of governmental accounting experience serving in various capacities with the State of Nevada, the University of Nevada, Reno and the City of Roanoke, Virginia. Mr. Wells received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Nevada. He served two terms as President and one term as Treasurer of the Northern Nevada chapter and one term as Regional Vice President for the AGA.
