The Honorable Kenneth M. Donohue is a Senior Advisor with CohnReznick Advisory - Government Services. Ken focuses on compliance issues, fraud and abuse, and prevention and protection internal controls on behalf of the firm’s federal and state government clients. Before joining CohnReznick in 2010, Ken was presidentially appointed and Senate confirmed as Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where he served for nine years. In his leadership role with HUD, he managed more than 700 staff in 42 offices nationwide with an annual budget of $125 million. His role as HUD’s Inspector General was focused on compliance matters; identification of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement; and implementation of prevention and protection internal controls. Ken had oversight of HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing (which included 2,700 public housing authorities), a nationwide Community Project Development, Ginnie Mae, and the Federal Housing Administration. Ken was a pivotal player in the federal government’s effort to investigate fraud in the mortgage industry. He was also one of three chairs, along with the Attorney General and FBI Director, to lead a federal task force that investigated and prosecuted individual and corporate fraud. This joint effort, launched in 2010 and called "Operation Stolen Dream," resulted in more than 1,500 arrests and more than $198M in recoveries.
