Paul is a Client Director for Atkins Ltd, focussing on the energy market with a particular interest in renewable technologies and waste to energy. He joined Atkins in 2002 after 6 years’ experience as a pollution regulator. His main role is strategic, helping to enable clients’ projects, some of which can be innovative and untested. This typically involves bringing together all the various environmental work streams required for new facilities, understanding the risks and how they carry through to legal, commercial and design interfaces. He is widely experienced in permitting and consenting, in the UK and overseas. This involves using his highly developed negotiation skills with regulators and stakeholders. Paul has the ability to think like the regulator, an invaluable skill when acting on behalf of clients. Working directly for international finance institutions like export credit agencies (US-EXIM, K-EXIM) and banks such as the EBRD gives Paul excellent insight into the constraints that can delay financial close.
