Damian Wagner is coordinator of the Smart Cities Initiative and the European Smart City Project Triangulum at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO in Stuttgart, Germany. He gained hands-on experience in the field of sustainable and innovative energy solutions and financing while working as Senior Project Manager in the Innovation Management team of badenova, a leading German utility, as well as during his time with the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) in Brussels and in his work as freelance consultant. The focus of his studies at ESB Business School in Reutlingen, in Barcelona and at the University of Exeter was on Carbon Finance and Renewable Energy Finance Mechanisms. He put this knowledge into practice in the South of Germany, where his family’s project management firm operates several innovative small hydropower plants.
